Raigarh: A youth was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly strangulating three minors to death in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district, a top police official said in Raigarh.

"Jaipal Yadav(22) residing at Gahna Jhariya village of the district was apprehended for killing three minors, Mohit Yadav (4), Dipika Yadav (4) and Nirmala Yadav (5), who were living in his neighbourhood," Superintendent of Police Anand Chhabra said.
Jaipal was arrested when he was trying to kidnap a three-year-old girl Bharti in the village, he said. The police were searching for the three children, who had gone missing on December 17, 18 and 25 respectively from the village, Chhabra said, adding that the body of Dipika was recovered on December 29 from the nearby forest area.

Chhabra said that on interrogation, Jaipal admitted that he had strangulated the children as "a goddess had told him to do so in his dreams". The body of Mohit was recovered following Jaipal's statement while efforts were on to trace Nirmala's body, the SP said, adding that the accused was suffering from psychological disorder which could be the reason behind the killings.
