New Delhi, (Jagranpost Network): Zaheer leads India’s pace attack. He is a genuine swing bowler and moves the new ball both ways creating lot of discomfort for the batsman. Zaheer also has the ability to reverse swing the older ball and can be devastating at times.

Known as “Zak” among his team mates, Zaheer has been a match-winner for India since he first doned Indian colours back in 2001. Zaheer bowls with a decent pace and primarily thrives on the movement off the pitch. For left-handers, Zaheer is difficult to get away with the kind of angle he creates.

In the past, Zaheer has had fitness problems and was dropped from the squad following a lackluster performance. However, a superb county season with Worcestershire earned him back his place in the playing 11.

Zaheer is skillful, experienced and knows how to pick up wickets in tight situations. His presence pumps confidence in the dressing room and he also gives a guiding hand to the likes of Sreesanth and Munaf Patel.

Zaheer was also the part of the World cup squad that qualified for the finals under Saurav Ganguly, in 2003. He played a second foil to Javagal Srinath.

In the forthcoming World Cup, India will need Zaheer to earn early breakthroughs for his team and put pressure on the opposition. Zaheer’s deadly Yorker has made him an ace death bowler and he will bring in all his experience into play to bring the Cup back home.
