Islamabad, Jan 13 (Agencies): President Asif Ali Zardari will meet Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on the sidelines of a visit to the US though no meeting has been scheduled with his American counterpart Barack Obama, Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said on Thursday.

Zardari left for the US today to the memorial service for Special Envoy Richard Holbrooke, who died last month. Clinton will call on Zardari and some other meetings are being arranged though no meeting has been scheduled with Obama, Basit told a weekly news briefing.

Responding to a question on Pope Benedict's call for the repeal of Pakistan's blasphemy law, Basit said Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has already responded to the Pope's remarks "very clearly" by saying "there is no question of abrogating" the law.

The Pope criticised the law after a Christian woman was sentenced to death last year for allegedly insulting the Prophet Mohammed.
